Special Needs Dentistry

Dental Care Built Around Your Child, Exactly as They Are

Every child deserves a dentist who truly understands them. For children and adolescents with disabilities and special healthcare needs, we offer individualized, supportive care designed around your child’s unique sensory, emotional, and developmental needs. Whether your child has sensory challenges, anxiety, difficulty with transitions, or a hard time with traditional dental visits, you’ve found a place that gets it.

Who we care for

We welcome children with developmental and intellectual disabilities, medical complexity, and anxiety-related dental avoidance. And here’s something we understand deeply: when a child struggles at the dentist, it’s almost never because they “won’t cooperate.” It’s because dental environments can be genuinely overwhelming. Bright lights, loud sounds, unfamiliar tools, and unexpected touch can flood a child’s nervous system, and when that happens, coping and participating become really hard. We start from that understanding, always.

How we help your child feel safe

Before we ask your child to do anything dental, our first job is helping them feel regulated and safe. That can look like dimmed lighting, reduced noise, weighted or deep-pressure supports, predictable routines, visual schedules, step-by-step explanations, having you right there beside them, and giving your child as much choice and control as possible. We break care into small, achievable steps too, so each visit builds gently on the last, always at a pace that respects your child’s needs.

Families are our partners

You know your child best, and that matters enormously to us. We take time to learn what works at home, at school, and in therapy, so we can carry those same strategies into our office. When it’s helpful, we collaborate with your child’s therapists and medical providers, and we support your family with education and planning every step of the way. Our goal isn’t to just “get through” one appointment. It’s to reduce fear, limit the need for sedation, and set your child up for long-term success.

A dental home for every child

Above all, we want to create a place where children with disabilities are understood, respected, and given the time and support they need, not just today, but for a lifetime of healthy, positive healthcare experiences.

Let's talk about your child's needs.
