Fluoride Treatment
A Simple Way to Make Teeth Stronger
Fluoride is one of the easiest, most effective ways to protect your child’s teeth from cavities. It takes just minutes, it’s completely painless, and it gives growing teeth an extra layer of strength against decay.
What it does
Fluoride strengthens tooth enamel, the hard outer surface of the teeth, making it more resistant to the acids and sugars that cause cavities. For kids, whose teeth are still developing, that added protection can make a real difference.
Who it's for
Most children benefit from regular fluoride treatments as part of their checkups, especially during the cavity-prone years. We’ll assess your child’s individual risk and let you know if and how often they’d benefit. In addition, most towns in the state of New Jersey do not contain fluoride in the water supply, which we take into account while assessing caries (cavity) risk for each individual child.
What to expect
It couldn’t be easier. After your child’s cleaning, we apply fluoride to their teeth, usually as a quick varnish or gel. It takes just a moment, there’s no discomfort at all, and your child can get right back to their day and eat or drink right away (woo, that rhymed!)
